Registration open for farmers to attend County Crop Fair in Coon Rapids, Iowa
The Iowa Corn District 4 Committee in partnership with the Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) and the Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB) are hosting a crop fair in Coon Rapids on Friday Feb. 9.
Professional Speakers and Topics
The event will open at 8:30 a.m. at the Coon Rapids American Legion. One of the featured speakers, Bob Hartzler, is a professor of agronomy and a weed specialist at ISU. As a result, he will begin his presentation, Dicamba: Moving Forward in 2018, at 9 a.m.
Hence, he will be followed at 10 by ISU field agronomist, Mark Johnson, who will discuss cover crops, Chad Hart, ISU Extension ag climatologist, with a crop market preview and Dr. Elwynn Taylor, ISU climatologist with a 2018 weather and risk update. “The crop fairs give Iowa corn farmers access to information they might not get elsewhere,” says Larry Buss. Buss is the ICPB director and farmer from Logan. “Crop fairs are customized to include topics that fit each region of the state, with opportunities for farmer-to-farmer learning and a chance to interact with subject area experts on a variety of topics including legislative policy, water quality, market development and risk management.”
